摘要：The present disclosure describes compositions and methods for inhibiting thedevelopment, formation and/or maturation of bacterial and fungal biofilms. The biofilminhibiting compositions include non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) as APIs,and ethoxylated oil as a solubilizing agent. The ethoxylated oils employed within thebiofilm inhibiting compositions includes between 9 and 24 ethoxylations/molecules. TheNSAIDs agents within the biofilm inhibiting compositions inhibit the syntheses ofprostaglandins by blocking the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzyme system due to theanalgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic properties of the NSAIDs. The biofilminhibiting compositions inhibit the cyclooxygenase isoenzymes required for prostaglandinformation, thereby preventing the colonization of fungi or bacteria as well as theformation of biofilms.
