1. When it comes to a success of mine, I have to mention my impressive performance in the
football match against the football team of the school of architecture. I regarded my score which helped the whole team to win as a success of mine. The game took place this semester. It was the first time that I played as a striker on the field so I felt quite nervous before the match. Therefore, before this very game, I took lots of training in my free time and practiced offensive techniques and gradually established team chemistry with my teammates when we carried out the offensive tactics. At the beginning we strikers didn’t made efficient offence because of my mistakes, but no one criticized me, they just encouraged me and we never give up. During the break, the coach taught us that we should cooperate more and only if we worked as team not as individuals will we win the game. His words moved me a great deal and actually stimulated the whole team to act more actively. As a result, we controlled the ball for most of the time in the second half and had more chances to infiltrate their defence system. Now let me tell you something about my score in this game. Honestly, I think it was a miracle to me. Since when my teammate passed me the ball, I was near the gate blocked by two rival defenders. Perfect position, but the wrong time. I ‘ve got no choice but to focus on my shooting. At that moment, I used all the strength that I had and aimed at a blind spot. And boom!! it worked. Nowadays, I really appreciate this success in my football career because it taught me the importance of teamwork
2. When it comes to a piece of equipment, I have to mention a calculator which brings me
much convenience. I bought it in the CASIO detail store when it first came out on the Chinese market because my American friend showed me how competent it was and recommended it to me during my stay in the United States. This calculator looks very unique since it is installed with colored screens and a wide range of buttons with different functions. This calculator is not only capable of solving some basic math problems but also competent of plotting some mathematic graphs on the screen to illustrate some

complicated problems. Moreover, it is equipped with several games that I can kill my time with when I am bored with those mathematic problems or analyzing data and graphs. I used it when I was faced with my mathematic homework or data analysis in my lab report. Unlike other calculators, this calculator is quite easy to realize some complex functions since it is designed customer-friendly. Therefore, the most important benefit it brought me was helping me solve those complex mathematic problems. However, for the most of the time in my high school, I just used to it in tests to ensure the correctness of my calculation. The reason why I used it is quite simple, no one will say no to a competent machine which brings much convenience to the life and could even bring a lot of fun when you are bored of calculating.
3. When it comes to something I made by myself, I have to mention a plastic pawn in chess
game I made when I learnt industrial production in a factory. It is a pawn just like any other typical pawns, which has a round head and a delicate- carved cylinder and a wide and stable foundation. I still remember the time when I started to work on my pawn was a sunny afternoon in my senior high summer vacation after we had learnt basic operational technique on the lathe which is a machine that rolls very fast to cut martials. At the beginning, the reason why I wanted to make a pawn is just because I had to finish my work assignment, but in the end, I found I did it just for fun. Now let me tell you something about how I made the pawn. Firstly, I drew lines on the martials to show where to cut and where not to. Then I started the machine and cut the martial with caution. I could remember when I cut it, my eyes were fixed on the pawn for nearly half an hour. All I did at that moment was to polish my piece of work as delicate as I could. When I finished this procedure, I filed the pawn to make it a smooth surface and looked like an actual pawn. That’s all about the process that I made it. Though it couldn’t be compared to those finely-made pawns by big company, it is still cherished by me because it was handcrafted all by myself.
4. When it comes to an interesting trip that I once had, I have to mention my trip to
Singapore when I was in high school. I was on an exchange program that I got the very chance to visit this beautiful garden city. And of course, I went there with my schoolmates and some of my school faculties. I stayed there during my senior two winter vacation and accidentally celebrated my first overboard Chinese lunar new year. Now let me introduce the beautiful scenery to you. I have to admit even if I just walked on a typical street in Singapore, I could still appreciate the beautiful scenery since this city was built as if in the heart of a finely decorated garden with plants and flowers of a wide variety. The most unforgettable scenes there were the beaches and the sea when I visited Sentosa, a local resort. I could never forget the sun bathed on the shinning fine sand, the waves came and went in the shore, the crabs crawled in a line to pass the pedestrian paved by colored rocks. What astonished me the most was the setting sun at the horizon where the boundary between the sky and the sea became blurred. This trip is special to me not just because of these beautiful scenery, but also because this trip has something to do with my first times. It was the first trip that I had without my parents and also the first trip that I had overseas. The first time I visited the sea the first time I celebrated Chinese new year not at home. I guess that’s why I think this trip is interesting.
5. When it comes to the person that I admire, I have to mention Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs was

an talented inventor and entrepreneur who was known by the world as the God father of the Apple Inc. In 1976, he and his friend set up Apple computer company and launched the first portable personal computer- Macintosh which was firstly wired to a mouse and was designed customer-friendly. In the decades that followed, he went through ups and downs with the company but never got defeated by the failure. Thanks to Steve Jobs iMac, iPhone, iPod all those electronic devices have swept the world with craze and have made profound change in modern communication, entertainment and even our ways of living. Like any other Apple fans, I use Apple products every day and couldn’t imagine a world without writing emails on the latest-released Macbook Pro, texting my best friend with iPhone 8, or jogging with my earphones plugged into the iPod Nano attached to my shirt. Sadly, Jobs passed away in 2011 because of cancer which was a shock to the whole world at that day. Steve Jobs was special, unlike other IT entrepreneurs, was a man pursing the harmony between perfectionism and beauty and a man who never got defeated by challenges. He was not a typical IT nerd because he always studied Art in university and combined his understanding of beauty with the cutting-edge technology to give birth to those fascinating products. The reason why I would like to meet him, if I had the chance, is that I want to ask him the key to success and the origin of his originality. And as a fan of him, I think meeting him is a must of course.
6. When it comes to the role music plays in my life, I would say it’s a close friend to me, a
cure to everything and an indispensable joy of life. I couldn’t figure out a reason why people don’t like music, because overall, listening to music could relax your body that goes through a long day of tiring work. When you feel upset or depressed, plugging in your earphones, lying on the bed and turning up the music volume will definitely comfort you. I couldn’t imagine one day when I forget to listen to music or forget to bring earphones and my iPod to a jogging since music is something which I couldn’t live without. As for the music I like best, I think country music is my favorite type, because Taylor Swift is my best singer and country music is her original style. Therefore, I get the chance to be exposed to lots of country music songs. The reason I like country music is that this type of music sounds quite relaxing and lyrics are closely related to our every-day lives. Moreover the musicians who play country music usually play guitar and wear casual clothes which make them not distant from normal people like me. There are several reasons why country music influences me so much. First of all, I am addicted to guitar and country music inspire me to play guitar better. Secondly, I listen to country music in the
morning and get a boost of energy, music to me is the best antidepressant. Finally, without country music I couldn’t know some famous singers, such as Taylor Swift ,john Denver and so on. To sum up, Music is excellent part our life.
7. When it comes to an instructive book that I have read, I have to mention the .- definitions of concepts, just like stack and queue. Then it illustrates a template program and explains it in detail. In the end there are some exercises for us to strengthen our ability to build better programs. I have read it for eight months, but I just finished a half. Nonetheless I think that the book is so instructive that it has cultivated my interest in the program software. Firstly, the book’s order of introduction suits the logic, so it is easy for me to understand it. Besides, the exercises the book give are easy to understand, but I can learn a lot from the algorithm design, therefore I even regard programming as a pleasure or hobby. Last but not the least, it will be beneficial in the long term, because in the future when I cooperate with others, having competent programming ability is essential. That’s all about the book. 8. When it comes to a period of age, which I think is interesting or exciting, I have to mention the time that I spent in high school. I will never forget this period of time forever. It was the time that I fought with all my strength to realize one simple goal—succeeding in the college entrance, so at that time I had to make tight schedules to fully use every piece of time wisely. I kept on learning, taking exams, reflecting on the mistakes I made to become more competent. Although I have gone through ups and downs in the process, I had no regret at all, because I have tried my best. At last I gained a great deal of things such as a brave, tough and determined heart, comprehensive knowledge that I will benefit from forever. What I cherish the most in this period is the close friendship I’ve built with my classmates. To be honest they are like my brothers and sisters, though we are not genetically bonded together. The reason why they are special and important to me is because they accompanied me through all those tears and laughter in high school. I could still remember how excited we were when we played football on the sun-bathed field when we finished the last exams in one semester. Moreover, they are very special since I felt a strong sense of belonging when I was with them. Although the time of high school has ended, I still can’t forget excitement I once had and miss my friends so much. 9. When it comes to a busy time in my life, I have to mention the time that I was in senior three. Faced with both the Chinese Chemistry Olympics competition and the college entrance examination, I went through this period of time with no ease at all. In order to prepare for both tests, I had to make tight schedules to fully use every piece of time wisely. For example, before my arrival at the school and after my departure from the school, in my mom’s car, I listened to English recording in order to achieve higher scores in the listening test. Moreover, at school, I seldom took breaks between classes only to ask my teachers questions as much as possible to fill the gaps in my knowledge system. Besides, after a quick supper, I studied at school until 11 pm, writing countless quizzes and homework, reciting long passages, and reflecting on the mistakes I made in the daytime tests and wondering how to do better in the exams ahead. There is no way that this period time wasn’t busy if you were to succeed in the exam because the competition between the senior three students who were going to take the college entrance exam was fierce. Besides the time was limited when we confronted the abundant lessons with numerous points to remember. During that time, I felt tired and sometimes nervous when I got poor scores, but for the most of the time I felt grateful for this period of time since I didn’t waste my time and was responsible for myself and my youth when I only thought of my dreams and fought for it. .- 10. When it comes to a person who lives near to me, I have to mention my neighbor who is also my middle school classmates. We became neighbors when I moved into my new apartment. At first, we didn’t talk much, but by the time we had found that we studied in the same school, we begun to contact with each other more frequently. We used to see each other every day since we walked to school together. As time went by, we became best friends. We did a lot of things together, though we do not share the same personality. I could still remember when we visited beaches in Singapore together, the sun bathed on the shinning fine sand, the waves came and went in the shore. We enjoyed this very moment together as the sun set at the horizon where the boundary between the sky and the sea became blurred. Usually during our free time, we would walk his dog in the neighborhood and chat on the recent news or other things we were interested in. As far as I can see, he was a really good neighbor, not only due to his kindness and outgoing personality, but also because he was always at my back when my family needed him the most, as my neighbor. I could never forget that midnight when my family came home late and found we had accidentally lost the key to the apartment. Much to my surprise, he friendly invited us to stay at his apartment for the night and helped us contact the property manager to unlock the door.
